Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why is the parade at 10 am?

    • To ensure proper traffic and public safety, Glendale police officers stay on for longer shifts and this time aligns to shift schedules.

    • Starting at 10 am avoids conflicts with other North Shore community parades for those who may want to attend multiple, and for parade acts who do so.

  • Why is there a gap in activities after the parade until in the afternoon?

    • Due to challenges finding ample volunteers to plan the event and work on the 4th of July, the event needed to be compressed. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up using the volunteer link above.

  • Can we carry in food, grill?

    • Yes, this is located in a County park and grilling is permitted. Please see linked rules.

    • Please do not grill in the central area of the event for the safety of our other guests.

    • Please do not grill on picnic tables, as we have had some set on fire!

    • Please clean up after yourselves as it is volunteers who have to pick up trash after the event.

    • Please dispose of charcoal carefully after letting it cool.

  • Can we bring our pets?

    • Yes, as a County park they are allowed, though please keep them leashed and pick up after your dogs!

  • Can we drive our cars onto the park lawn?

    • No, that is illegal and you will be asked to move, or ticketed by County Sheriffs or Glendale Police.

  • Will there be tables and chairs?

    • We will be using the picnic tables available in the park so seating is limited.

    • Please bring your own chairs if you would like.

    • Please do not move the picnic tables from where they are located.

  • Can we reserve park sites, or just setup there, during the event?

    • No, the full park is reserved by the City of Glendale through Milwaukee County Parks.

    • Due to limited garbage bins, picnic tables, and volunteers to clean up, you may be asked to move if you ‘setup’ at a location outside the main gathering area.

  • Can we rope off spots for the fireworks?

    • No. The park will be used for various activities throughout the day, and so roped off areas may be removed by our volunteer staff.

    • Any area being ‘reserved’ must be occupied by guests.

  • Can we sell glow sticks or other items to guests?

    • No. The County requires a permit for any sales on the premises. Food, drink, and glow sticks are being provided by the 4th of July Committee volunteers and approved vendors.

  • Is there a drop off point?

    • Yes, there is an Uber/Lyft Drop off Location. Please view the map below
